Visiting Amsterdam

Amsterdam was okay but I preferred the calmer streets of Rotterdam. It was probably the crowds and crazy heat wave temperatures. I was also in a very lame hostel located 30 minutes away on the metro. I would rather re-visit here during a quiet season without all the tourists such as myself gawking around. Oh and it was reaching record temperatures up to 38°C!

Highlights:

  • Heineken Experience
  • a canal tour
  • Rijksmuseum (shout-out to the working air conditioners!)

This 'hostel' sucked. Far too crowded with Contiki groups and operated like commercial hotel + mega food court
a normal afternoon attraction in Amsterdam
New Zealand import Pink Lady apples taste better than from our own supermarkets
Most of New Zealand & Victoria/New South Wales not discovered yet
